At the invitation of the European Commission, Franciscus Verellen, chair of the ECAF Steering Committee, participated as European expert in discussions between the EC Research directorate and the Chinese Ministry of Education on the programming of EU-China academic cooparation in Social Sciences in 2010. The meetings took place on 12-13 January 2009 at the People's University in Beijing.
