Kathmandu AAI
The Nepal Research Centre (NRC) is the oldest German cooperative institution in Nepal. Its beginnings may be traced back to the year 1959. Today it hosts the activities of the Nepalese-German Manuscript Cataloguing Project (NGMCP, since 2002), the successor of the Nepal-German Manuscript Preservation Project (NGMPP). The NRC offers facilities, including a library and a guest room, for research activities on and in Nepal.
Principal activities
- Assistance to scholars from any country in preparing and carrying out research on Nepal
- Arrangement of contacts between Nepalese and foreign researchers
- Organization of lectures, seminars and get-togethers on a wide range of topics
- Publication of a monograph series, miscellaneous papers and the Journal of the Nepal Research Centre
- Facilitation of the Nepalese-German Manuscript Cataloguing Project
- Assistance in ordering microfilm copies from the National Archives Kathmandu
